In more details:
SIZE THE BLINDS
Before doing anything, you’ll want to consider the cutting position and how the blinds will overlaps. Line the blinds up on the sill as shown in the photo.
MARK THE CUT POSITION
This is important
Ideally, we recommend the blinds have. 5cm (2 inch) overlap. If working with a 5cm overlap, you’ll mark each blind 2.5cm from the centre position (or the ‘centre of the join’). Take the time to double check your marks, and be sure to look at the photos below to see what you should end up with.
CUT THE BLINDS
When you’ve double checked the cutting positions, you’ll be ready to cut the blinds.
Instead of trying to cut the whole blind in one stack, we recommend that you open the full into two.
PREPARE TO FIT THE BLINDS
If everything has gone according to plan, you should have a set-up similar to the one in the photo.
Position the blinds as shown and visualise where those blinds will be fitted.
CLEAN THE FITTING SURFACE
Use the alcohol wipes that were included in the pack to clean the surface where you will be sticking the blinds. The idea of this step is to de-grease the surface so that you get a good bond to the window. Ideally, you’ll be fitting the blinds to PVC or Glass. Aluminium is okay too, but sometimes the powder coat paint is very shiny stops the tape bonding well. In this case you can use two lines of sticky tape.
PEEL THE TAPES
Depending on whether you think you need one line of tape or two, carefully peel back the backing paper of the sticky tapes.
At this point, the blinds will be ‘sticky’, so be careful and ensure the tape doesn’t come into contact with anything that you don’t want it to stick to!
FIT THE FIRST BLIND
Offer the blind up to the fitting position. If you are fitting inside a recess (up against a wall), then before you actually stick the blind fully, let the blind drop down the window and just check how well the blind sits against the side wall.
When you’re happy with the position, you can go ahead and stick the first blind.
FIT THE SECOND BLIND
Do the same with the second blind.
TOP TIP
Try to work left to right. Be careful with the sticky tape of the second blind coming into contact with the paper of the first blind, until you’re ready to commit to that fitting position.
CLIP TO POSITION
Once you’ve made the installation, you can clip the blind up to the desired height. Use one clip at the join position, it will hold the blind much neater and make everything look tidy.
